Hey there! I’m Ruari. I make difficult games where everything goes wrong.

I’ve been making independent games since 2010 as randomnine. I’m based in London. Sometimes I work by myself, sometimes with a few other people when I’m making something bigger. My core stuff is design, programming and music. I’m always trying to build complex games with interlocking parts; living systems that respond to you and take subtlety to manage.

The way I see it, life is tough. It’s uncertain. Maybe if we work really hard, we can build something decent. Maybe we’ll try our best and it’ll fall apart. All we can do is keep going, keep learning, keep rolling the dice, and fail over and over until we stop.

I make games to reflect that.
